Kiewra is in the 7th grade at Lux Middle School, Lincoln, Nebraska. Keaton is an extraordinary chess player. He has been featured in the Lincoln Journal Star as the Chess King, on Nebraska Public Radio, on KGIN television, and in chess publications because of his impressive chess accomplishments, including: sixth grade national champion Nebraska High School Champion (as a fifth grader) twice a top five finisher in the National Elementary Tournament rated among the top five nationally for his age, and the youngest qualifier ever to compete for the Nebraska Chess Championship. Trumpet ----------------------- From: Edward A Kiewra: I saw on your website that you have a P.O. box address in Floral Park, so I believe that we're related in some way. I've also been interested in pursuing family history research, but haven't progressed very far into the past. I have some additional information at home, but I'll give you what I can now off the top of my head. My father, Edward, was born in Floral Park on 10/8/22 and died on 11/7/82. He was one of 10 children. His father was Anthony Kiewra (he died in 1949 (I think - I have the date at home), and wasn't even sure of when he was born (late 1800s)). I know that Anthony had some brothers living in the Floral Park area (I may have that information at home, as well). Anthony's wife was Anna Naumic (I have to check on the name spelling at home). My father's siblings were Josephine, Joseph, Walter (American version of Polish name), Frank (also a Polish first name), John (I think his real name was Zigmund or something similar), Frances, Jenny (not sure of her complete first name), Al (also had a Polish first name), and Lillian. My father's brothers Joe and Walter, as well as his mother Anna, are also deceased. That's the quick run down. I'd be interested in maintaining contact with you as I start to dig a little deeper into my roots. Several years ago, I had some e-mail contact with a woman in Pennsylvania with the last name of Kevra, that was searching out some family ties, also. I'll dig out her information and pass that on to you as well. I live in Liverpool, NY (near Syracuse) and get down to Long Island occasionally to visit my brother Bob, who lives in N. Babylon. My mother was Alice Kiewra (died 1-9-96) and my father was Gustave Frances Kiewra (died 7-11-2000, he is shown as having my address in Virginia because he was in a nursing home here near me, but he lived in Garden City Park most of his life). I graduated from St. Hedwig School and Sewanhaka High School. I have lived in Virginia the last 25 years and have been making numerous trips to Garden City Park to take care of family business. We also have relatives in New Jersey. My grandfather who lived in Floral Park was Michael Kiewra who was 30 years old when my dad was born as listed on my dad's birth certificate. So he must have been born in the year 1882 and it lists Sontaki, Poland as his place of birth. He was married to my grandmother Mary Kiewra (maiden name Mary/Mamie Chichon possibly spelled Cichon) who was 24 years old when my dad was born as listed on my dad's birth certificate. So she must have been born in the year 1888 and it lists Sontaki, Poland as her place of birth. They had one child, Gustave Frances Kiewra (my dad). My dad, Gustave Frances Kiewra, was born on March 14, 1912 in Floral Park, NY. He lived in Garden City Park most of his life. He died on July 11, 2000. He and my mother were married since July 17, 1938. My mother, Alice Kiewra (maiden name Alice Kozyrski) was born April 6, 1920 in Garden City Park, NY. She died on January 9, 1996 (a correction to what your information shows). They had one child, me, Gustave Paul Kiewra. I, Gustave Paul Kiewra, was born on July 25, 1943 in Garden City Park, NY. I married, my wife, Donna Elaine Kiewra (maiden name Donna Elaine Womack) on November 29, 1969. My wife was born on February 12, 1949 in Rome, Georgia. We have three children: Amy Marie Kiewra (married name Thompson) born April 5, 1972 in Muncie, Indiana, Christopher Paul Kiewra born December 4, 1981 in Charlottesville, Virginia, and Jessica Lauren Kiewra born February 14, 1985 in Charlottesville, Virginia. I vaguely remember visiting Kiewras (Walter, Joe, maybe Anna) on Cherry Lane in Floral Park when I was a child. Someone who would be able to piece together my grandfather, Michael, and other Kiewra relatives is my father's cousin in New Jersey. His name is Joe Chichon. I tried getting in touch with him, but get no answer when I call. He came to my dad's funeral and too I remember him very well also. He and his wife do some traveling and spend time in Florida and so I think they must be doing something like that now because I have called and called and get no answer. He could piece some of this together because he was telling me all kinds of family history at the funeral.
